About me

I am a fine art painter and I work mostly on commission for a national and international clientele. My paintings are exhibited in churches and galleries around the world.

My studio is located in Cartoceto, Italy.

I lived several years in Florence for my artistic education and I worked as instructor at The Florence Art Studio. I attended the Sacred Art School of Florence to specialize in sacred catholic Art.

About my job

I mainly deal with commissioned paintings for national and international clients. My specialization is sacred art but, in my opinion, every creature in this world is sacred, and I can't help but contemplate the beauty of nature of which we are a part. I chose figurative art precisely to be able to "capture" a fragment of the beauty I see in creation and to be able to enhance it through painting. I love the portraiture of the human figure and of animals in particular, and I enchant myself in painting landscapes.

I decided to specialize in sacred art because, in addition to the fact that it allows me to work on complex compositions that can include everything that is present in nature, I found the language of the paintings of the past distant, even if technically stupendous, and I noticed that in some cases do not communicate to those who look at them now, as we no longer understand the images that perhaps were immediately understandable some time ago. We are used to visual languages, for many reasons, very different from those of our ancestors, and we are in an age where the "visual" has acquired a fundamental importance.

Painting and Drawing lessons

Why is drawing so important?

Academic drawing is the basis of figurative art: one cannot paint well without having acquired at least the basics of drawing from life. Drawing means observing nature and grasping its fundamental characteristics to create the "illusion" that what we look at is, in some way, imprinted on our support. What we want to grasp in a nutshell, both for a quick sketch and for a hyper-realistic drawing, is the Similarity.

But being able to use mediums in the right way and understanding how to reproduce a silhouette, proportions, tones and volumes correctly is not easy at all, and a lot of practice, observation and study are certainly needed. The lessons can be developed in a short period of time depending on the objectives to be achieved, or a path can be planned starting from the compositions in the studio (forms, plaster casts, still lifes) up to the Portrait and the Human figure. It is possible to carry out the lessons at home or in other locations. The courses are open to anyone, at any level of experience.

Learn with watercolor.

Watercolor is a very useful technique to learn the use of colors and prepare yourself for other mediums such as tempera, acrylic paint and oil paints. This medium is very practical for painters, both for the simple use and for the easy maintenance of the materials, and especially in the learning phase or in a preparatory project for a painting, its simplicity allows us to experiment with color in various ways .

Learning how to use watercolor correctly is not easy, especially at the beginning being able to safeguard the white of the paper is a very difficult undertaking. The ability that is acquired with the exercise in handling the right amount of water and pigment, and learning how colors evolve in their mixing or in the overlapping of color glazes, guarantee you an edge in using all other mediums. Write to me for more info on watercolor lessons or come and visit me in my studio.

Oil painting and its various resources.

Oil painting, from its discovery until today, has always been considered the preferred medium of painters. The great elasticity given by the oily medium allows us to create from the softest shades and the thinnest glazes to the brightest, thickest and most decisive strokes.

This pictorial technique is much loved by artists and its potential allows us to give space to creativity. In figurative painting, as in academic drawing, before talking about compositions and creativity, it is necessary to exercise a lot of painting from life. The beauty of painting is that you can also represent anything you can see in nature, and spend time contemplating it until you grasp all its beauty and "steal" a little piece of it to keep on the canvas. I confess that every time I happen to observe a sketch that I painted from life, especially in the open air, I can remember the sensations, the noises, the sounds, the beauty of what I was portraying, and that moment of life that I was able to savor by catching its colors.

I can help you with lessons in the studio or outdoors for painting en plein air
